How to start your data collection

  1. Press "New Record" button on the main screen of the app

  1. Make sure the guidelines align with the road ahead

  2. Press "Start" button on the bottom left corner of the screen.

  1. Finish the record by pressing STOP button

  1. Well done! 👍 You're finished with your first recording. Now it is time to upload the capture to Roadly Cloud Engine. Don't worry, you won't need any tech skills for that.

Key Tips

  • Sufficient Lighting: Adequate daylight is essential for accurate data capture. Ensure that surveying is conducted during daylight hours to guarantee optimal processing and results.

  • Storage Capacity: Prior to recording, verify sufficient free storage on your smartphone. As a general guideline, approximately 1GB of storage is required for every 10 minutes of recording.

  • Avoid overheating. During hot weather, the phone may overheat to a point where it becomes inoperable. Reduce screen brightness to a minimum to conserve battery and reduce heat generation. Opt for a case with good ventilation to allow heat dissipation. Avoid thick, insulating cases. If possible, turn off the dash cam app when parked for extended periods to give the phone a rest.
